Vennala Mohan

Vennala Mohan is a popular novelist, actor, scriptwriter, poet and short story writer. He is a dubbing artist too. He was born as Mohankumar PP on 18th May 1961 in Vennala in Ernakulam, Kerala. His parents are Prabhakara Kurup and Ambujakhy Kunjamma. His father was a businessman and his mother was a homemaker. Mohan did his schooling at Government High School, Vennala. He started developing his writing skill while in his school. His first work is Oru Nunayude Katha, which was published in 1974 in the Balalokam magazine. In 1975, his second story, Dukham, was published in Talir magazine. 

Mohan joined Maharaja's College, Ernakulam and completed his bachelor’s degree. Besides this, he holds a diploma in Journalism. Mohan has worked in many media houses not only in Kerala but also in Lakshadweep. In 1999, he received the Solomon Joseph award for his short story. In 2008, he received Jaycey Foundation Award for his novel. In 2012, he received Atymayanangalude Khasak Award and Atlas Kairali Bala Sahitya Award. In 2020, he featured in Best-of-India Records.

Besides this, he has compiled a book of stories, Innathe Katha, written by various writers and Innathe Kavitha, a collection of poems written by various poets. Balalokam, Vartha Weekly, Durmoham Evening Daily, Janmabhoomi Onam Special Issue, Sakhi, Deepaprabha Lakshadweep Varta Patrika, Kochi International Book Fest Souvenir, Dharmaprakasan Bulletin, Janani from America, International Malayalee from America and Rasmi Fortnightly from Germany are some of the magazines where Mohan worked. He had been writing a column in Rasmi Fortnightly for more than two decades.
