Dr. Smitha Pisharady is a well-known musician, and Music therapist who finished her graduation and post graduation in South Indian Classical music and completed a certificate course in Music therapy from Kerala University. Apart from being a host, she has written songs for Malayalam movies, Albums, Devotional albums, and TV serials and also sings for advertisements, TV serials, radio programs, etc.
Being a singer, she always tried to find peace in music with a belief that many diseases can get cured by Music therapy and started to research that. She opened a website named gandharvaraga.com which aims to extend and utilize the powers of music to heal and cure physical and mental diseases. Music therapy is a method to use music to address the psychological, physiological, and emotional pain of an individual and her website is a music centre that propagates and practices music therapy and South Indian classical music education.
She delivers seminars, workshops, lectures, and concerts according to public needs and she has healed many people with music therapy within weeks. She says that music is a medicine that cures problems like insomnia, increased pressure rates, etc and has also done project works with patients who have mental and psychological issues and have cured them. Many people, including doctors, have suggested that music therapy can be used in hospitals and she is also a working member of the editorial board of ‘Kisanbharathi’.
