She took birth in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Anju mainly focuses on singing Christian devotional songs, and she has lent her voice in several songs of this genre. She took an interest in music during her school days and participated in youth festivals. She won many prizes for her singing; she stood third in Gandharva Sangeetham Junior that aired on Kairali TV.

Anju also contested in a music competition on Jeevan TV and got awarded with the runners-up trophy. With singing reality shows becoming popular at that time, Anju decided to participate in one. In 2009, she auditioned for the fourth season Idea Star Singer.

It aired on Asianet and got judged by Sarath, K.S Chitra, M.G Sreekumar, and S.P Balasubramaniam. Anju reached the grand finale. However, she got eliminated and secured the third position. She gained popularity, and in 2011 she was offered a song in the movie Doctor Love. Directed by K. Biju, the romantic comedy had music composed by Vinu Thomas.
