Sasha Gopinath

Sasha Gopinath is an Indian actress and a model who works in the Malayalam cinema. Sasha is also a dentist. She loved watching films which later developed into an interest that lead to her acting venture. Soon, Sasha decided to become a model and she sent her portfolio and photographs to several studios. In 2014, Sasha got her first chance in Mollywood with the movie “Krishna Yaksha”. There were twelve songs in “Krishna Yaksha” which was directed by Suneesh Neendoor. This movie is an adaptation of an epic written 5000 years ago in which Lord Krishna sentences Yakshan with a curse for his demeaning actions. This movie was screened in several movie competitions including the annual International Film Festival of India in Goa.

The viewers liked this motion picture specifically for its cinematography. Journalists praised the movie for its suspense but criticized its first half as it was considered average. Nevertheless, it became a sleeper hit and grossed nearly one crore rupees at the Box-Office. It marked the first collaboration between Sasha and the legendary actor. “Kasaba” was also Uttarakhand model Neha Saxena’s debut Malayalam movie. In “Kasaba”, Mammootty enacts the role of Rajan Zachariah, a police officer who tries to find the people responsible for the death of his friend’s son. “Kasaba” created a record as it became the fastest Malayalam teaser to touch one million views on YouTube which was four days.

Kasaba released on the auspicious day of Eid and collected 15 crore rupees at the end of its run. In the same year, she had a minor part in Johnpaul George’s “Guppy”. “Guppy” is a tale of a boy who shares a rapport with a young engineer in his village. Critics praised the movie for its depiction of human predicaments. “Guppy” won five awards at the 47th Kerala State Film Awards ceremony in 2017.
