Nanditha Bose

Nanditha was a well-known figure in the Malayalam industry in the 70s. She has acted in several Malayalam films, and in some Hindi, Bengali and Tamil films. She started her acting career in the Bengali film Kanna (1962). Then a Bollywood film Aisa Bhi Hota Hai (1971) and Tamil film Dhakam (1972) followed, but after a long break of nine to ten years. Swapnam(1973) was a major film in Nanditha’s career. She got praises and recognitions for her role of Gauri in the film, even fetching a Filmfare award for best actress. That was just the beginning. By 1975 when Prayanam released, Nanditha was the rage. She worked in numerous films and audiences enjoyed watching her. Awards also kept pouring in for her. Things unknowingly started heading for a downfall from the 80s. She got second lead offers, and the films were very few and far between.

Her last film was Ashwaroodan in 2006, which was in itself a comeback for her after 17 years. Today, she is seen in some television shows. Her personal life is even more tragic. She was married to D.P Bose with a son. In 2004, news broke out about her divorce. She was reportedly tortured, both mentally and physically. There were major legal and acquisition disputes. Finally, she did manage to get a divorce.
