Arya Sreeram is a Malayalam TV serial and cinema actress from Trivandrum, Kerala. She currently appears in the Asianet serial Sthreedhanam, in which she plays the role of Sethulakshmi. She has acted in the in Ishtam (Affection) for Surya TV and has collaborated with actor-director Biyon.
Arya's first experience with acting was in front of the mirror. "As a young girl, I loved acting in front of the mirror," she said in an interview with The Hindu. She took dancing lessons but found the Mudras and complex dance moves too tedious for her taste. She turned to Western, cinematic and semi-classical forms of dance and performed for television programs and talent shows. However, her acting debut came in her final school year. She received an offer to act in the crime serial Officer. Airing on Amrita TV, she acted in 2 episodes. She tied the knot soon afterwards.
Arya's sister-in-law Kalpana, a model, introduced her to the world of fashion modeling. Soon, she began receiving offers from high-end brands such as Chennai Silks and Chemmanur Jewellers.
She landed a meaty role in the Tamil remake of Ente Manasaputhri (My Dream Girl). She also accepted an offer to act in Maharani (Empress). The birth of her child, Roya, compelled her to take a 2 year sabbatical from acting. Even then she received offers to act in serials such as Mohakkadal, Achante Makkal and Ardram.
Although she had acted in many reality shows before, she had never acted in comedy shows before and was surprised when Diana Sylvester, the producer of
, invited her to act. Although Arya was initially nervous, her colleagues encouraged her and her performance was a grand success. She was glad to have the opportunity to share the stage with many of the Malayalam industry's legends, including Mohanlal.
