Shilpa Krishnan Shukla is a film director. She hails from Thrissur then in 1999 she relocated to Singapore to pursue higher studies. She also received a Singapore Airlines Academic scholarship. She and her husband Shivanu Shukla are residents of Singapore. They have a daughter named Eka. She is an accomplished classical dancer, artist, and voracious reader. When her first two films, which were both under a minute long, were chosen as the top 25 films at an online film festival in 2008, Shilpa realized she had a knack for the r film. She mostly works with aspiring actors while pursuing a profession as a marketing director for a large pharmaceutical company.
Tashi (2018), her other production is a bilingual feature film in Hindi and English produced in association with the Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati, is also currently accessible on YouTube where the movie was an official selection in 2019 and won the Best Screenplay prize. The 24th International Film Festival of Kerala will screen her feature film Kathaah@8, an anthology of eight stories in eight different languages. The movie includes stories in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, making it possibly the first anthology in eight languages to be written and directed by the same director. The independent, low-budget film shot in Singapore over nine nights, earned the best film prize at the 2019 Singapore South Asian International Film Festival.
Additionally, it will be shown at the Dhaka International Film Festival in 2020 as well as the Chennai International Film Festival beginning on December 12. Her other independent, low-budget films include the award-winning zero-budget English comedy Mausams, the online sitcom Athazham (2015), the Malayalam-English bilingual Pularum Iniyum Naalekal (2016), the Aravindum Aarumughamum (2014), and the Inganeyum Oru Katha (2012). (2011). She is also mentoring eight up-and-coming directors as part of an experimental project called Jump run by Black Dabba Productions and the Navya Project.
