Malayalam Anchor Gopinath Muthukad

Gopinath Muthukad is an escapologist, magician, motivational speaker, and a life coach from the state of Kerala in South India. He uses the medium of magic to express his feelings and messages to the general public. He gave a proper dimension to magic as a branch of science. He was born in Nilambur to Kunjunni Nair, and Devaki Amma. His father was a farmer. Gopinath became passionate for magic due to his father. When Gopinath was young his father used to tell him the story of the great magician named Vazhakunnam Namboothiri. Even though he completed his graduation in Mathematics, he was very much inspired by these stories, that he decided to pursue magic as his career. So, he left his course in the Law College. He started the magic academy in Thiruvananthapuram, which was the first magic academy in the Asian continent. In the year 1995, he was awarded with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award. He has also the award named, International Merlin Award from the International Magicians' Society.

His motto 'Magic with a Mission' is unique. He undertook four national voyages in the years 2002, 2005, 2007, and 2010. They are Vismaya Bharatha Yathra for the development of national unity, Gandhi Mantra with a motto to impart knowledge about the seven messages of Gandhi, Vismaya Swaraj Yatra to salute and respect the sacrifice of freedom fighters and Indian soldiers. He performed about 8000 shows on different stages throughout his career of 42 years.

'Mission India' was his recent magic show, which was on stage from October 2nd to November 30th, 2010. The motto was to focus on issues like violence and terrorism with the support of the Ministry of Defence to curb them. He has also performed many magic shows at the state level. In the year 2008, he performed three shows at the state level, namely Monsoon Magic, Light of truth for the youth, and Bringing magic to the tribal lives. The first one was aimed to sensitize the people about the prevention of many rain-borne diseases. The second was an initiative to empower the youth magically against misbelieves, and superstitions. The third was an attempt to make the tribal people smile. In the year 2009, he performed a show named 'Stop SAD,' which lasted for about 30 minutes. The motto of the show was to educate people about the bad effects of Alcohol, Smoking, and Drugs.

Gopinath was the chief organizer of the first traditional street magicians' festival in India during a span of two days from 10th December to 11th December 2005, which was organized in Thiruvananthapuram. His recent edition of the magical stage show was named as 'World of Illusions'. He also conducted an act of propeller escape on 31st October 2012. He extended his works of charity as an occasion of his career's 30th anniversary in magic. Besides being a renowned magician, he is also a writer with excellent writing skills. He wrote his first book titled 'Magic-What? How?, in the Malayalam language. He was the first one to perform the book Wings of Fire of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam magically. He was also writing the book Ganitharamante Kusruthikal, a book, which is based on the concept of Math-magic. All his books published are in a great demand. He performed the magical of Indo-China friendship in Sikkim. After a travel of about 24000 km, it was performed at a height of 14400 feet, which was a world record. He has established a Magic Academy named MARC, The Magic Academy Research Centre, which is located in the film and video park named KINFRA.
