Agni Shridhar

Agni Shridhar, the founder of Karunada Sene, was former gangster in Bangalore but turned into a professional writer, critic, and artist. He belongs to Kanakapura, Karnataka. He completed his schooling in Bangalore with colourful dream to become an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer but due to the prevailing situation, he turned into a gangster. Leaving behind the gangster world after 20 years of service he became a writer, filmmaker, critic and a journalist. By being in this profession (writer) he started writing articles of his experience as a Don in Bangalore for 20 years.

After some time, he translated the articles into English and compiled together as his autobiography titled as “My Days in the Underworld-Rise of Bangalore Mafia.” It was initially published by Tranquebar Press in 2013. The biography changed people’s views towards him and he even received Sahitya Academy Award. He wrote the book with the help of V.G. Jaideep and Prathiba Nandakumar. Apart from his autobiography, he wrote another book named “e Dadagiriya Dinagalu” (the days of goondaism) in the Kannada language. He has also been an editor for a Kannada newspaper.

As a filmmaker, he made his debut with the movie “Thamassu” (2011) which won him the best screenplay writer award and a Karnataka state film awards (second best film).
