HD Kumaraswamy is a renowned politician in Karnataka and also the son of former Prime Minister of India, H.D. Deve Gowda. He is also 8th Chief Minister of Karnataka, ((Feb. 2006-Oct.2007)). But since he was an ardent fan of thespian Rajkumar, he started even imitating him by wearing the kind of dress the thespian wore in movies. It was for Rajkumar, the politician turned him as a film distributor and later became the producer of few successful Kannada movies.
HD Kumaraswamy is one of the most influential politicians in the state of Karnataka. He was born on 16 December 1959 and completed his PUC from Vijaya College and his BSC from National College, Bangalore. Later in the year, he got married to Anita on 13 March 1986, and they have a son, Nikhil Gowda.
It is with wife, Anitha Kumaraswamy he has produced all Kannada films. Kumaraswamy launched his son Nikhil Gowda in a Kannada-Telugu bilingual film Jaguar (2016). His son is also an established businessman and currently has two more films in his hand.
As a keen film producer, Kumaraswamy has produced so far four films out of which ‘Chandra Chakori’ was a runway hit movie. The film was directed by S. Narayan and was a musical hit film in that year. In this movie, three new faces such as Sri Murali, Priya, and Naaz, were introduced and they all made debuts with this movie. The film was produced by Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita.
However, this politician’s first movie was ‘Suryavamsha’ which was a Kannada film released in 2000 that is directed by S. Narayan and Vikraman was the writer. The movie featured Vishnuvardhan, Isha Koppikar, and Vijayalakshmi in lead roles and it was a remake of Tamil movie “Suryavamsam” which had actors like Sarathkumar, Devayani, and Radhika.
The Kannada movie did a brisk business and the movie was produced by Anitha Kumaraswamy. In the year 2000, “Galate Aliyandru” released in theatres which had Shivraj kumar and Sakshi Shivanand in lead roles and the film was directed by S. Narayan and produced by Anitha Kumaraswamy.
Although for movies like “Suryavamsam” or “Galate Aliyandru”, HD Kumaraswamy was not given credit as a producer and his wife Anita was given credit, it was because he was a politician in the Assembly. Every film that was produced by the politician and his wife was declared hit upon release.
It is said that HD Kumaraswamy again married Kannada actress Radhika which surfaced out only in 2010 when wife Radhika revealed and out of his second marriage, they had a daughter named Shamika Kumaraswamy.
