Vajramuni was born on 10th May 1944 in Kanakapalya, Bangalore. He was an actor, who appeared in more than 300 films till his death. He mainly acted in negative characters throughout his career, sometimes even over shadowing the lead actors in his movies. Because of this, he was hailed as one of the finest actors Kannada industry has seen.
Vajramuni had a degree in cinematography before he started his acting career. He was acting in theater before entering Sandalwood. In one of his plays Prachanda Ravana by Kanagal Prabhakar Shastri, he impressed
so much, that the famed director offered him a role in the film Saavira Mettilu. Unfortunately, that did not take off. However, Puttanna made him to cast in Mallammana Pavada, which became his debut film as an actor. Producers wanted Udaya Kumar to match
, who had essayed the role in the Tamil version. But Puttanna had his reasons and cast Vajramuni anyway.
Vajramuni acted in numerous films such as Mayura, Daari Tappida Maga, Sampathige Saval, Giri Kanye,
and finally Akasmika against Rajkumar. At the age of 62 years, he died on 5th January 2006 in a private hospital due to long suffering from diabetes and kidney related illness. He was survived by wife Lakshmi.
He will be remembered for his stellar performances in Babruvahana (1977), Bangaarada Manushya (1972) and Bangaarada Panjara (1974).
