Suchendra Prasad, the name very common to the theater world is an accomplished actor, the acclaimed director, choreographed, and has given music for films, television, and radio. He has written as well directed several plays. Also known as Sachindra or K suchendra Prasad, he owns a very creative intellect and the subjects of his plays reflect that brilliant perspective. He refines his subjects with the ingredients of his imagination and experiences and engages them as a vessel to fathom the deepest nooks of mental faculty and is able to convey feelings, thoughts, and interpretations to the diverse circle of spectators. He was born in 1973(Age 44) in Karnataka and has higher educational qualifications M.A. & LLB. He is well versed in several languages – English, Hindi, and Kannada. For him, language never became a barrier in his way of learning several art forms of different regions.
He was an integral part of the Ford Foundation Network and a theater group called FOOTSBARN OF FRANCE. He also runs an NGO. Suchendra Prasad is popular for his contribution in parallel cinemas. In his initial days, he got to work with bigwigs like B.V Karanth and D.R. Ankur, but the credit of his recognition in the tinsel town goes to the 1999 Girish Karnad directed 'konooru Heggadithi', which was the heritor of National Award for best feature film in Kannada. Next, in 2006, he was starred in a children movie called Tuthuri which bagged several national and international accolades. Beru, which won the best feature film award at the 52nd National Film Award and Bettada Jeeva are great assets of his career. The contribution of Suchendra Prasad to the Indian Cinema is huge. The movies Gharsane and Barfi had both Suchendra and his wife Pavithra Lokesh, who is also a versatile actor, as major characters.
They have been married since 2008. Also, an issue like the national struggle is best portrayed in his movie 1944. Several documentaries and feature films like Prapaatha, Lipyanthara and Viraktha Raashtraka, glow as the gems of his career. Also, there are talk shows, television series, and interview-based films in his basket to name a few. Cinema has always been a ‘Cultural communicator’ and therefore must comply with the traits of the society and popularize, believes the Actor, Hence his creations always evoke a social concern. He has several accolades in his bucket, and his contribution to Tolly world is vast. He was nominated for IIFA Utsavam Award for best performance in a negative role – Kannada. His movie Gaggara, where he played the role of Shankara, the son of a Lola performer made its entry into the Bangalore International Film Festival and owned the National award. The folk art ‘kola' was the central theme of the movie which is mainly observed in the coastal regions of Karnataka. He was also an integral part of the 63rd National Film Awards – 2015.
