Kuntagodu Vibhuti Subbanna was a dramatist and writer in Kannada. He was born on 20th February 1932. He was born in Heggodu, Sagara region of Karanataka. He founded the world-famous drama institute NINASAM. Kuntagodu Vibhuti Subbanna, popularly known as K V Subbanna, wrote and directed many plays. He was a great admirer of Kannada literature and established a publishing house by the name Akshara Prakashana to publish literature in Kannada language. He was the recipient of one of the most prestigious awards in the world, the Ramon Magsaysay Award, 1991. He has also received prestigious national awards from the Indian government. In 1994, he was awarded The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. In 2003, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award. And in 2004, he was honoured with the prestigious award the Padma Shri.
