Pratheek Thomas

Prateek Thomas is an animator, storyteller, entrepreneur, and the co-founder of an independent storytelling studio 'Kokaachi.' 

Born in Kochi, Kerala, Prateek completed his education at Toc H Public School, Kochi. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from M.A. College of Engineering, Ernakulam (1998-2002). He then pursued a post-graduation in Industrial/ Product Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahemadabad (2002-2005). 

Prateek started his career as a designer in the core team of the Jiyo mobile company from 2008 to 2009. He also worked as a content developer and designer for social networking, interactive storytelling, and animated messaging. He then worked as an author in an animation script for a start-up company based in Bangalore. 

Preteek co-founded an independent comic publishing house 'Manta Ray' in 2010. The company got shut down in 2013. He co-founded the independent comic storytelling studio 'Kokachi' with his wife Tina in 2014. Based in Kochi and Banglore, they collaborate with storytellers and publish stories and comic books filled with graphic narratives such as comics, picture books, illustrated poems, and matchbox stories. As a visual storyteller, the company published comic books such as 'Hush' the silent graphic novella, and 'Matchbox Comics' an anthology of comics placed inside matchboxes.  

Kokachi is a collection of original stories of everyday people, lively storybooks filled with animation and comics. The upcoming releases in their comic book series include 'Under the Trees,' a graphically illustrated poem, 'Idivettu' (Thunderbolt), an eight-part comic book series in Malayalam, and the 'Mixtape' series. 

From being curators and publishers of comic stories and graphic books, the couple started doing animation series for films. Apart from films, the couple duo also created animation for titling sequences. They have worked on the opening titles of anthologies such as 'Ajeeb Daastaans,' 'Paava Kathaigal,' 'Ankahi Kahaniyan,' and 'Ghost Stories.'
