He is also a renowned Tenkutittu Yakshagana Bhagavatha actor. His best works include “Paramathma (2011), RangiTaranga (2015), and Banna Bannada Baduku (2017).”
Satish is Kateel's Chief Bhagavatha's fifth Mela. His remarkable abilities have charmed his fans. For years, Yakshagana followers have been mesmerized by his unusual voice, which is both musical and deep. His fantastic voice and tone have earned him a reputation. Many of his admirers travel long distances to hear Yakshagana Bhagavathike performed by their favorite artist.
Sathish learned Yakshagana Bhagavathike, Chende, and Maddale. While pursuing his Pre-University course, he dedicated his work to the musician Mambadi Subrahmanya. Seemanthur Narayana Shetty instructed him in Yakshagana Chandassu. While Roshan Kumar was his Carnatic music teacher.
Over the last 15 years, Patla Sathish Shetty has produced a successful Yakshagana Bhagavatha in Tenkutittu style. He grew up and raised in Karopadi, Bantwal Taluk, in South Canara. He belongs to a Tulu-speaking Patla Guthu family (Dakshina Kannada). Patla Mahabala Shetty and Lalitha Shetty were his parents. With an elder brother and sister, he is the youngest of three siblings. His grandpa, Patla Dugappa Shetty, was a well-known figure in the community.
Sathish has been a member of the “Shree Durga Parameshwari Dashavathara Yakshagana Mandali” of Sri Kshetra Kateel for 15 years. He also worked as the Chief Bhagavatha at the “5th Mela of Kateel.” His remarkable performances have charmed a plethora of fans. His melodic voice and tone is well-known. His beautiful voice is both lyrical and profound.
Patla has received over 500 accolades. He has received titles such as “Yuva Bhagavatha, Gaana Mandara, Gaana Gandharva, and Gaana Kogile.”
Patla's fame has never deterred him but instead enhanced it. He accomplished his goal of learning Bhagavathike with zeal. He has performed in Yakshagana events in the United States, Singapore, Dubai, Kuwait, and Muscat, among other places. Patla has also sung songs in Kannada films such as “Rangitharanga,” Tulu films such as “Pilibail Yamunakka,” and Tamil films such as “Banna Bannada Baduku.”
The “Yakshadhruva Trust” was founded by Sathish Shetty Patla to promote and protect Yakshagana, a coastal Karnataka art form. The charity's goal is to preserve Yakshagana artists. Last year, this trust was established to fulfill the artists’ needs. This nonprofit now plans to provide a hundred sites to financially underprivileged Yakshagana performers.
