Tanuja is a popular Indian actress, who is also mother to Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee, two well-known actresses in the film fraternity. She was born on the 23rd of September, in 1943. She has been most popularly known for her roles in movies like Baharein Phir Bhi Aayengi. The movie has an interesting plot of a reporter who gets thrown out of job on him exposing dangerous conditions at the work place. After a while he gets reemployed by the daughter of the deceased in the incident. The daughter seems to be more interested in the reporter than what concerns just journalism. She is unaware of the romantic relation between her younger sister and the reporter. The role of the younger sister is played by Tanuja. This movie released in 1966.

She has also featured in the movie, Jewel Thief that released in 1967 and is of the spy thriller genre type. It features four actresses in the lead who are more like bond girls, and the rest of the movie is about the spy game.

Another notable movie of her career is Haathi Mere Saathi that released in 1971. Haathi Mere Saathi also starred Rajesh Khanna Born as Jatin Khanna on 29th December 1942, the ch >> Read More... , and was about the story of the friendship between an elephant and a human.

She has done a couple of noteworthy movies and has won a couple of good awards like the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, and Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1969.
