Manoj Kumar was born as Harikrishna Goswami. He was born on 24 July, 1937 in Lahore, Punjab, India (Now Pakistan). After India – Pakistan Partition his family fled to Delhi, when he was 10. He did his graduation in Hindu College, University of Delhi. After his graduation he went on to pursue a career in acting. He is an award winning Indian actor and also a director in the Bollywood.
He changed his name as Manoj Kumar, after the Character name of

’. He was a great admirer of Actor Dilip Kumar. His debut movie was ‘
’, which was released in the year 1957. His career steeped steadily through the years. He is known for his hand on the face gesture and his patriotic roles he played in many of his movies. Following his retirement from movies he entered politics and joined Shiv Sena. He is married to Shashi Goswami and has two sons, Vishal Goswami and Kunal Goswami. His sons tired their Luck in Bollywood as Singer and Actor respectively, but didn’t succeed.
He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 1992. He has received many film fare and other prestigious awards as a credit to his excellent acting career.
