Seminlen Doungel is a footballer who plays for the country of India, represents India in the national football team. He is also a part of the team Kerala Blaster FC in the football league called Indian Premier League. He plays in the position of a striker for the team.
He is popularly known by his nickname name Len. Seminlen hails from the north-eastern state of Manipur. He was born on January 3, 1994. He was born in Saikul in Manipur and kick-started his career by being a part of the youth team of Jagatit Cotton and Textile Football Club in Punjab.
Shortly after, he joined the East Bengal Football Club which is a professional football club in Kolkata which is located in the state of West Bengal, in 2011. He played in a few matches during his first season with the club and soon made his international debut when he took part in the AFC Cup in the year 2012 against Kazma Sporting club which is a Kuwaiti football club.
He played for a total field time of 72 minutes after his substitute took over. Unfortunately, East Bengal lost the match. In 2013, Seminlen was loaned out to Pailan Arrows club in one of the games of the 2012-2013 season for the rest of the season. He scored his first ever goal on 24th March 2013 while playing against Mohun Bagan. He scored his second goal on 20th April 2013 while against Salgaocar, the football club which plays in the Goa Professional Football League. In 2013-2014, Doungel came back and played for the East Bengal club.
He scored a goal, but the team lost the match. The game in which he scored his next goal, led the team to victory. In 2014, Len joined Shillong Lajong, the Shillong based football club. He played for the team in the 2014-2015 League season. In 2015, Len signed a two year deal with Bengaluru Football club. In July of the same year, he got selected to play for the football club Delhi Dynamos for the Indian Super League.
In the year 2017, Doungel played for Northeast United football club for ISL's fourth season. He scored a hattrick in this season against Chennaiyin in January. He became the very first Indian to score a hattrick in the fourth season of ISL, and the first Northeast United player to score three goals in a row. He became the Indian with the highest goal scorer in the North East United.
