Manjeet Kaur

The infamous Indian sprint athlete who suffered the consequences of being banned for two years from participating in the sport, in the year 2012. She absconded from the scene when asked to submit her sample to the National Anti-Doping Agency - NADA. She was untraceable when her teammates were found guilty of doping as well. Manjeet specialized and continued to do so, in 400 meters sprint and relay.

Back in 2001, she overtook the previous record that was held by K.M.Beenamol in 400 meters by achieving a new record of completing 400m in just a matter of 51.05 seconds at the National Circuit Athletic Meet in the year 2004, in Chennai. She proceeded and represented India in the 4x400 meters relay at the Athens Olympics 2004.

Her entire team set a record time of 3.26.89 and secured the third place in the Olympics. Later in Beijing Olympics, she went on to represent India once again in the relay of 4x400 meters, and this time, her team finished it with a time record of 3:28:83, scoring the seventh place. She is also the recipient of one of the most prestigious awards, ‘Arjuna Award’ for athletics in the year 2005. Manjeet Kaur went on to reach heights of fame by achieving the gold medal, in the relay held at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
