Gurpreet Singh Sandhu

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was born on 3rd February 1992 in Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab, India. He is an Indian International Footballer. Sandhu finished his graduation degree from DAV College in Chhattisgarh. Sandhu started playing football when he was eight years old. Sandhu is a goalkeeper, and a part of the Indian club Bengaluru FC (shirt no.-1). He joined St. Stephens Football’s Academy in the year 2000.

He continued playing there till the year 2009. During this, Sandhu has been welcomed in the state youth team, named Punjab under sixteen’s group. His sportive and football skills were very astonishing and impressive that he got selected. In the year 2006, Sandhu made his first debut as a youth at the state level at Haldwani.

This youth player played Kolkata based matches throughout the year 2009. Later in the year 2010, a professional contract with the East Bengal has been signed by Sandhu. He has also appeared around five times in the 2009-2010 session for East Bengal. For the next year (2010-11), he has been lend to Pailan Arrows.

He played in 2011 federation cup for East Bengal as the second choice goalkeeper for his session 2011-12. Soon after this, he played for East Bengal in I-League and was shifted to play as the first-choice goalkeeper. In his first I-League match, East Bengal loses to Churchill brothers by 0-1. Sandhu’s next debut was in AFC Cup 2012, having Al-Oruba as the opponent team on 6th March 2012, which they lost again by 0-1. A deal has been signed with Stabæk, a Norwegian club by Sandhi on 15th august 2014.

His senior debut was in the year 2015 on the 18th of January, which they won by 4-1 with having Follo as their opponent. Likewise, he made his debut in a few more games throughout 2015-16. Sandhu became the first Indian footballer to play in an ETDL (European top division league), while he was playing a match against IK Start at the end of May 2016. Right from Stabæk, he directly entered the Bengaluru FC in august 2017. Sandhu has made his next debut in AFC cup knockout stage against April 25 sports club and Mumbai city FC. Sandhu has been played under 19s football representing India in 2010.

Sandhu finally made to enter in the Indian National Football team, which represents India in international football. He then appeared in thirty-three games starting from 2011 to 2019.
