Urmila Sharma, from Tollygunj Kolkata, remembers her hard time she faced when she landed in Mumbai. She was a typical housewife with two children and an affectionate husband. The acting ‘bhoot’ dawned upon her when she just made her profile for no reason. She also joined Rang Karmi, which is UshaGanguly’s theatre group. She got her 1st break in an album "Aye Babuwa" by MK Singh released by T-series and later she was cast in a telefilm Lekhak. Her struggle in Mumbai is worth talking about. She faced tough days. Though she got two small roles which bought her the least of fame and recognition. She also wasn’t able to create an identity of her own. And then her career took a turn when she got a significant role in Sai Baba.
Her dedicated hard work and passion towards this role won the hearts of many. Following that she received many roles like JeevanSaathi and Bahanein were two serials which portrayed her role as a beautiful one. Even though these shows bought her well on screen but still coming into the limelight remained a dream. And then RajanShahi’s family drama called ‘Yehrishtakyakehlatahai’. This show made her famous and she was soon identified as a known face in Indian households.Today she is in very hit and well-known shows like BalikaVadhu and DiyaaurBaati hum. These shows are doing well and she too has earned due respect. She also has worked in films like Billu and Ranjhaana where she played Dhanush’s mother. Her talent and acting calibre have made in appearing in prime time soaps on Indian Television.
