Dhritiman Chatterjee is a Bengali stage, film actor and filmmaker. He was born on 30 May 1945. He got fame and name for his lead role and protagonist in Pratidwandi. It was directed by
Satyajit Ray and was filmed in 1970. He worked with many famous filmmakers Mrinal Sen,
Aparna Sen and many others. He also worked with English filmmakers such as
Deepa Mehta, Jane Campion and many more.
He was nominated for many different awards and won many several awards. He was on Jury of the Indian National Film Awards. He pursues a career in advertising, social communications and documentary filmmaking in parallel. He also worked with Mumbai directors such as
Sanjay Leela Bhansali and
Mani Ratnam. He was given a screen name of Dhritiman. In Chennai, his English stage name is Sundar Chaterji. He studied at Kolkata's St Xavier's Collegiate School and Presidency College. Afterward, he studied at Delhi School of Economics. He is an anchor of Pradhanmantri, a Bengali TV Series on ABP Ananda. It started to air from 14 December 2013.
