W.G Snuffy Walden(William Garett Snuffy) is an American composer, Guitarist, and Studio Musician born in Lousiana, the USA in the year 1950 but was raised in Texas. He started his career as a music composer in 1987 by composing several songs, including the title track for the TV series Thirtysomething(1987). W.G Snuffy Walden started getting into the music industry back in the 60s after forming a three-piece band called 'Aphrodite' with Al Roberts(bass guitarist) and Randy Reeder(Drummer) playing for local clubs. Later, in 1972 the band was newly founded with new members and named 'Stray Dog'.
Manticore Records signed a contract with them and produced three songs in their first album 'Stray Dog'. After the breaking up of his band, Walden superseded the then sick Paul Kossoff, providing guitar tracks for the final album(Heartbreaker) of the English Rock Band Free, released in 1973. Also, in 1973 he played the electric guitar in Peter Sinfield's album ' Still'. In 1975, he started performing as a solo or supporting artist to musicians like Stevie Wonder, Eric burton, etc. The turning point in his career was in the mid-80s when TV agents and producers became aware of him after seeing him perform in Santa Monica. He was approached to compose music for the very successful TV show 'Thirtysomething', which later went on to be nominated in the Emmys.
After getting recognition and success in the music world including the Emmy nomination Walden was offered to compose music on numerous television the including Roseanne, The Wonder Years, Ellen, Once and Again, The West Wing, I'll Fly Away, The Stand, Friday Night Lights, Huff etc. He won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music for his work in The West Wing in the year 2000 He also had numerous Emmy nominations for making other main title songs and compositions of I'll Fly Away, My So-Called Life, Early Edition, Miracles, Felicity, Huff, Kidnapped.
