Rosalind Chao is an American actress. She was born on September 23, 1957 at Anaheim, California, US. Her parents owns Chao’s, a pancake restaurant across Disneyland. Rosalind works there at an early age. Later, she moved to Villa Park, California and studied at Marywood. In 1978, she finished her studies at Pomona College. Initially, she worked in Disneyland as a tour guide. From there, she happens to met Simon Templeman who is about to get married and their reception was held at the Disneyland Hotel.
Her parents supported her decision in pursuing her acting career. She started at the age of five through the Peking Opera in California and she was later sent to Taiwan to develop her skills in acting. Subsequently, she was seen in many television commercials and television series during her teenage years. She was first seen on CBS’ Here’s Lucy. She got noticed while performing as Princess Serena in the short-lived sitcom, Anna and the King. Rosalind later acted in a variety of television shows. She acted as Emily Chan in the first live action series, The Amazing Spider-Man in 1979. She also played the role of Miss Chung in the television sitcom, Diff’rent Strokes in 1981 and later had a recurring role in 1982. She played as Soon Lee in the television series, M*A*S*H followed by a recurring role in AfterMASH from 1983 to 1985. From 1991 to 1992, she essayed the role of Keiko O’Brien, a botanist in the science fiction series,
Star Trek
: The Next Generation and from 1993 to 1999, she made a recurring role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The actress was also seen in the popular medical drama series, ER as Dr. Chao in the episode, Humpty Dumpty. She made a guest star appearance as Dr. Kim in the teen drama series, The O.C. In 2003, she played the role of Arleen Cassady in the comedy-drama series, Monk. She played as Michelle Huntley in the crime-based drama series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2010. This year, Rosalind acted as Sheng-Li Wang in the cyber-themed series, Intelligence and the episode six of the drama series, Forever.
