The Cosby Show, an NBC sitcom, which was telecast between 1984 to 1992, catapulted a star to fame. The star is Phylicia Rashad, who played the role of both a lawyer and mother in the sitcom. She sustained in the show for a long time. Rashad even featured in numerous Broadway and off-Broadway endeavors. She has the credit of being the first-ever African-American actress to garner a Tony Award in the category of Best Actress in a Play. This was given for her stellar performance in A Raisin in the Sun. She event took up directing plays.Â
Born as  Phylicia Ayers-Allen on June 19, 1948, in Houston, Texas, Phylicia kickstarted her television career in 1976's Delvecchio. Rashad was very active in small screen all through the 1990s, associating with made-for-TV films of different genres; some even badly made.Â
Rashad has worked in several Broadway and off-Broadway ventures all through her profession, including Jelly's Last Jam and Dreamgirls.
