Debbie Matenopoulos was born in Richmond, Virginia, on December 13, 1974, to Greek parents. Nicolaos T. Matenopoulos, her father, is a furniture maker, and Efrosini, her mother, is a hairstylist. Debbie was named Thespina Matenopoulos after her grandmother. Later on, she changed Thespina to Debbie. Ike Matenopoulos is her older brother, and Maria Matenopoulos is her older sister. She attended John Randolph Tucker High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. She also went to New York University's Journalism Department. She had also made her appearances as a host and guest in various TV shows and awards.
She is the author of the best-selling cookbook named It’s All Greek to Me. In 1997, she started her professional career as an intern at MTV. She also quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the story coordinator for UnFiltered. After meeting Barbara Walters, she was invited to audition and appointed as the youngest co-host of Walters' new talk show, "The View," at 22. She joined E! to cover the Golden Globe Awards in January 2006. In the same year, she joins E's Weeknight celebrity gossip and pop culture series, The Daily 10, as one of the three hosts.
Debbie continues to work on that show till 2009. She's also made an appearance as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race 3. Debbie's first bestseller cookbook, It's All Greek to Me, was launched in 2014. In July 2015, she began working as a co-host on "The Insider" and remained on the show until September 9, 2017. On July 5, 2003, she married Jay Faires. Jay is the founder of Mammoth Records and Lions Gate Entertainment's President of Music. The couple divorced on November 12, 2008. Debbie later married Jon Falcone in 2013. The couple is blessed with a daughter Alexandra Kalliope Falcone.Â
