Cynthia Harrison is a director and an Emmy-nominated writer and producer. She is also the winner of the prestigious Cine Golden Eagle award for her work on the TV show Fly Fast: The Cutting Edge and the series Dogfights. Born in Los Angeles, California, she finished her education at UCLA and UC Berkeley. She had a successful career as a model and actress and appeared in several magazines, like Mademoiselle, Glamour, and Harper's Bazaar. She also did fashion shows for Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Gucci. Harrison has built a successful career as a producer and writer of television documentaries. The Royal Navy, Search and Rescue, The Great Ships, Defending America: The National Guard and The Coast Guard are some of her other documentary credits.
She worked as an executive producer and co-writer on Rogue Waves, a History Channel tie-in, and as an executive producer and co-writer on Wolfgang Petersen's feature film Poseidon. Ms Harrison has also written award-winning episodes of children's programming ranging from hard action like Spider-Man, Tutenstein, and Mortal Combat to lighter comedies like Pocket Dragons and Horseland and popular preschool shows like Clifford the Big Red Dog. Todd World received an Emmy nomination for her script.
She appeared in episodes of Laverne and Shirley, Dallas and Murder She Wrote and played Dee Presley in the ABC miniseries Elvis and Me. She has recently made appearances at the Tiburon International Film Festival in 2014 to promote her documentary "Silver Tsunami", which describes a catastrophic global disaster-related to ageing with chronic disease and high-cost care. Cynthia believes in making documentaries "purely by chance" and in making films that contribute to the benefit of society.
