Sam Mendes

Samuel Alexander Mendes better known as Sam Mendes is a film director, producer and stage play director from England who has been known for his direction in movies like American Beauty, Skyfall, Spectre, Jarhead, etc.He was born in Reading, Berkshire, England on 1st August 1965. His grandfather was Alfred Mendes, a Trinidadian novelist and his parents were Jameson Peter Mendes and Valerie Helmes Mendes a literature professor and a successful fiction author respectively. His family's influence was apparent early on and he developed an affection for reading and writing. His parents divorced in 1970 when he was just Five.He was brought up in Oxfordshire and studied in Magdalen College school and completed his graduation from Peterhouse Cambridge with a first in English. After completing his graduation, he started working at the Chichester Theater located in London while working there, he was asked to direct a comedy stage play, and the show was hit this provided him with new job offers. He then Directed the famous stage play ‘The Cherry Orchard’ for which he won The Critics’ Circle Award for the best newcomer after this he was hired as the director at Royal Shakespeare Company where his productions featured stars like Simon Russell Beale after some time he was hired as a director in Royal National Theater.After this, in the late 1990s he was appointed as artistic director at the Donmar Warehouse where he worked for almost ten years and his productions like Assasins, The glass menagerie earn huge name .He started directing Silver screens in 1998. His first movie as a director ‘The American Beauty’ was released in 1999 by DreamWorks starring Annette Bening and Kevin Spacey.This movie earned phenomenal success and gathered attention and it also won many prestigious awards. He was awarded Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award for the best director after this he directed and produced a lot of successful movies like Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Revolutionary Road, Skyfall, Spectre, etc He married to Kate Winslet in May 2003 and also had a baby boy on same year 22 December Joe Mendes. He also had a stepdaughter Mia from Kate’s first marriage The couple divorced in 2010 after the divorce he dated Rebecca Hall for around five years. Recently on 26 Jan 2017, he married Alison Balsom.He has won many awards for his direction in various films which include Oscars, BAFTA, Golden Globe, Directors Guild of America Award, Jupiter Award and Empire Award

Asim Raza, whose full name is Asim Raza Khan, is a director, entrepreneur, and producer, who works for big as well as small screen. He hails from Pakistan. Asim took birth in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan on August 21, 1966. He studied at National College of Arts Lahore, Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, and Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. After graduating from Bartlett School of Architecture, Asim worked at Arshad Shahid Abdulla (PVT) LTD, a reputed company, as an architect. However, soon he realized that filmmaking is his true calling and quit his job to devote all his time to his passion. Asim started with directing and producing commercials for brands that we use daily like Head and Shoulders, Coca-Cola, Garnier, Sunsilk, and much more. He also regisseure The Big Idea, a show which focussed on marketing and advertising. During this time, he worked with musicians Hadiqa Kiani, Najam Sheraz, Junoon, Abrar-ul-Haq, and others. After gaining experience for three years, he established The Vision Factory, a production company, and under it created a video for a music band Junoon named Sayonee. It became an enormous rage among the listeners. Asim decided to attend several workshops, seminars, and short courses to sharpen his skills. He was the regisseur of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's last concert, Junoon's A Tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Lux Style Awards' second edition, and a Kathak documentary named Raqsan which brought the country's dancer Fasih Ur Rehman accolades. In 2008, Asim became the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture's board member of the studies for the communication design department. However, it was his work in the award-winning telefilm Behadd, which had Umera Ahmed as its writer and starred Sajal Ali, Fawad Khan, and Nadia Jamil, that got him the recognition he deserved. Three years later after the release of Behadd, he got to auteur his first commercial movie named Ho Mann Jahaan, which was a huge success at the box-office. Azim has also written the lyrics of Ho Mann Jahaan's three songs. He won the Best Music Video Director and Best Telefilm Director Award in 2004 and 2013 respectively. He is married to ex-army chief and ex-president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharaf's daughter named Ayla Raza. Ayla is an architect too, but currently, she is working as All Pakistan Music Conference's director and promotes and popularised traditional performing arts among the youth. They are doting parents to two daughters named Zainab Raza and Maryam Raza.
