Adam Craig Gilchrist, an Australian commentator is also a well-known cricketer, born in 1971. Initially, Craig was a cricketer and captain of the Australian National Cricket team. Adam is a left-handed cricketer with record-breaking skills as a wicket-keeper-batsman as well. Their strike rate of Craig is highest in the ODI and Test cricket series. Adam Craig was born in Wales with a passion for cricket and was the youngest of four children in the house. Once Adam was thirteen, he was moved to Lismore where for the first time in his life he was captain of the Kadina High School cricket team. Selected later for the state under-17 team, he was offered a scholarship in 1989 by the Richmond Cricket Club based in London. Later Gilchrist got married to his high school sweetheart Melinda and the couple was blessed with three sons and one daughter.Â
Gilchrist was a part of the One Day International team of Australia in 1996, his debut game against South Africa at Faridabad. In 1998, Adam won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. The first Test Match debut was made by him against Pakistan in Gabba. Later in the Third Test against New Zealand in 2000, Gilchrist held the record for the third-best Test performance as a wicketkeeper. In the same year, he also received the position of vice-captaincy of the Australian team. Adam was awarded with one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2002. Honoured with the Allan Border Medal in 2003, he was the only Australian current cricketer with the title of "Richie Benaud's Greatest XI" in 2004.Â
