John Patrick Doyle is an Australian actor, comedian, radio presenter, and writer born on 9 March 1953 in Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia. His other names are Roy Slaven, Rampaging Roy and Slaven. He has three sisters, and one brother. His mother was a successful businesswoman, and her father was a railway fettler. Doyle completed a Diploma of teaching in Secondary English History from Newcastle Teacher's College in 1973. He took his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University Of Newcastle in 1978. He also joined Hunter Valley Theatre Company and performed there, along with taught the students at Glendale High School.

After seven-years, he resigned from his job and moved to Sydney, where he joined Sydney Theatre Company. Doyle started his radio career in 1986 with the program His Sporting life. The show based on TV sporting commentators who represent Australia in every city. John Doyle first appeared in Triple J's breakfast show in 1985. It was at that time there, Doyle met with his future best friend, Art graduated Greig Pickhaver, on the SBB TV series. Pickhaver also had the same interest that Doyle had; Pickhaver also had worked in a radio program Punter to Punter, and his interest was in comedy and sports commentator.

They are also did commentary in Winter Olympics 2002 in Salt Lake City and the year 2004 Olympics in Athens city. In 2010, he became a member of the Order of Australia for serving and entertaining the audience as a presenter and also become a supporter of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Australia. In 2008, John Doyle also wrote a play, Vere, which was produced by Sydney Theatre Company.

He also wrote several books like The Pig Iron People, Pants Off: This Sporting Life, Boys and Balls, Five South Coast Seasons, Round for Pound, Tool talk, and wise cracks, wicket to wicket. In 2014, John Doyle acted in travel TV series, Two men in China, in which John Doyle and Tim Flannery travel into China to saw the future of China- Australia relationship. Since 1990, a mini TV-series Club Buggery, John Doyle and Greig Pickhaver entertained the audience. Its genre was a comedy, directed by Colin Broley. The show completed two seasons successfully. The show was a blend of comedy, talk, and music with the guests. The series won three Movie Awards with titled Most Outstanding Achievement in Comedy and Most Popular Comedy Program.

Many famous actors and celebs also performed in the Club Buggery show, included footballers Paul Sirnen and Warren Boland. The series also rated by eight out of ten. For Doyle, comedy is not the only a joke;but it is also a mask and tool; it can expose serious, ridiculous, and ignorant things similarly. The executive producer, Gus Howard, believes that the Blue Heelers are popular due mainly of the cast.
