Barry Shabaka Henley is a character actor from the United States. He was born on 15th September 1954. He is featured in various television shows and has a long list of cinema credits. Henley also worked in five films directed by Michael Mann. The stage name of a Pharaoh from Egypt's 25th dynasty, who ruled from 721 to 707 BC, is "Shabaka."

Henley was born in the city of New Orleans in the state of Louisiana. His mother was a dancing teacher. He frequently accompanied her to recitals. His family shifted to San Francisco during his childhood. He completed his education at the prestigious “San Francisco Polytechnic High School.” He received lessons from Johnny Land. Henley's first audition occurred when he was just 17.

He spent the following few years acting on stage before making the switch to the big screen. His early stage appearances included performances with the San Francisco Mime Troupe as "Factwino."
Henley portrayed “Herbert Muhammad” in “ Ali Click to look into! >> Read More... .” In the film "Collateral," he plays a sensitive jazz musician living on borrowed time. In the 1998 movie “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” he portrayed “Buddy,” He also featured in the 1999 film “Life" as “Poker face.” He played an airport U.S. Customs Officer in Steven Spielberg's “The Terminal” in 2004. In 2016, he starred in the film “Paterson.”

Henley starred in the shows “Robbery Homicide Division” and “Barbershop” on television. In the TV series “Flash-forward,” he played FBI Agent “Vreede” from 2009 to 2010. In the episode "Veronica" from the third season of "Lie to Me," he played "Dr. Olson." He also featured as a police detective in the “Breaking Bad” spin-off “Better Call Saul” in 2015.

He played Abishola's Uncle “Tunde” on the CBS television series “Bob Hearts Abishola (2019–present).” He won several awards, including the “Drama Desk, Obie, and Olivier Awards” for his work on stage. Henley worked as a member of the “San Francisco Mime Troupe” and the “West Coast Black Repertory Theater.”

Henley appeared in several movies, including “A Thing Called Love (1993), The Scout (1994), Lord of Illusions (1995), Fallen (1998), Fear of a Black Hat (1993), Bulworth (1998), Market (2003), The Terminal (2004), and Four Brothers (2005).” His other works include “State of Play (2009), Miami Vice (2006), The Big Year (2011), Water & Power (2013), A Star is Born (2018), and Dolemite is My Name (2019).”
