Samina Chowdhury

Samina Chowdhury is a famous singer and song writer from Bangladesh. She was born on 28 August 1966. She has played at several local, national and worldwide gatherings, such as the South Asian Music Festivals in the USA in 1993 and the world Musical conference in Singapore in 1996. Samina was exposed to traditional Bengali Music as a young age since she was born into a wealthy family of musicians in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At age 18, she enrolled on Chittagong Shilpakala Academy, where she received her training under Ustad Abu Ahmed Khan for Classical / Rabindra Sangeet vocal studies for five years.

During this period, she composed her album, ‘Shurjo Diner Sathe’, which featured compositions by Tagore with modern arrangements creating a unique soundscape blending folk and classical forms that earned critical acclaim throughout Bangladesh and overseas countries as UK & Germany. To date, Samina has released over 30 albums covering various genres of Bangla Music ranging from Adhunik songs to Ghazals & Nazrul Geets, accumulating innumerable awards & accolades along the way, earning herself numerous No#1 chart positions all across the India-Bangladesh subcontinent as well further abroad, e.g. Greece, Japan etc.
