Vikram has two siblings, Shantum and Aradhana, who were also renowned people. Vikram did his schooling at Doon School, Dehradun. After winning a scholarship , he went to Tonbridge School of England with his uncle. Later Seth graduated in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Corpus Christi College in Oxford, England. Then he earned his post- graduation degree from Standford University. His career as a prominent writer started in 1980. He wrote his first book of poetry ‘Mappings ‘ in 1980.
His other art was ‘The Golden Gate’(1986), that a novel which has six hundred sonnets. Seth’s writing was sharp and rich. He enlightened various surfaces of societies through his pen. His second novel ‘A Suitable Boy’(1993), brought him limelight. The story depicts the political issues after the independence period. Seth was awarded Commonwealth Writers Prize and WH Smith Literary Award for this novel. ‘An Equal Music’(1999) was another of his masterpiece.His another greatest non-fiction work is ‘Two Libra’s which published in 2007. Seth was crowned the ‘Padma Shri’ in 2007 and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2005. For his first novel ‘The Golden Gate’ , he won the Sahitya Academy Award in 1998. He has given dimension of society problems through his poem, sonnet, novel, fictional books.
