Pavel Bhattacharjee is an Indian film Director and Screenplay Writer. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, and works mainly in Bengali films.
Pavel did his schooling at Kalighat High school and later at Mukul Bose Memorial Institution. Pavel has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in History from The University of Calcutta.
Pavel's debut film was the Bengali movie Babar Naam Guruji which was released in 2005. He was the director and screenplay writer of the same. After this he directed Bawal (2015), Shonar Pahar (2018) and Rosogolla (2018). He is famous for his 2020 movie Asur, which starred Jeet, Abir Chatterjee, and Nusrat Jahan in the lead roles.
In addition to directing movies, Bhattacharjee has also illustrated books written by Nabarun Bhattacharya. Pavel had made a documentary called ‘Poet from Death Valley’, after Nabarun's death.Â
