Devapriya Roy

Devapriya Roy is a well-known Indian author. She was born on 24 May in Kolkata. She completed graduation in English literature from Presidency College and a Master's degree in  English literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She earned PhD on Bharata Natyashastra( Muni of ancient India on performing arts) from Jawaharlal University under the guidance of H.S Shivprasad and award-winning poet and playwright and Prof Katia Legeret of the University of Paris VIII. Her husband is Saurabh Jha.

In 2011, she began her career with the first novel, The Vague Woman Handbook, published by HarperCollins, which was later listed in the India Today Bestseller list. In 2013, her other novel, The Weight Loss Club: The Curious Experiments of Nancy Housing Cooperative, was published by Rupa and Co. Her other book, The Heat Click to look into! >> Read More... and Dust Project, about a travel storybook on local buses on a tight budget. The book got excellent reviews and was listed on the Hindustan Times-AC Nielsen list.

The book was written along with the spouse of  Devapriya, Saurabh Jha. Man Woman Road, a sequel of The Heat and Dust Project, was published in Indian Express. In 2017, she wrote a book Indira, a biography of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She wrote it with Priya Kuriyan, a book writer and comic animated filmmaker. This book was published by, Westland Imprint  Context. In 2018, she started writing a serialized novel, The Romantics Click to look into! >> Read More... of College Street, in The Telegraph, a daily English Newspaper. Later, these parts of the novel get combined in a book, Friends from College, published by Westland.
