Abdullah Al Mamun, born on July 13, 1942, was a Bangladeshi dramatist, actor, and filmmaker. The creation and directing of television plays was a significant period in his life. He was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1978 and the Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 2000. As a director, he received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice for his work on the films Ekhoni Somoy (1980) and Dui Jibon (1985). (1988). Mamun was born in Jamalpur District on July 13, 1942. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in history from Dhaka University. He wrote Aamar Kotha, which was serialised in the weekly Tarokalok. Mamun has been engaged with Pakistan Television (PTV), which was later renamed Bangladesh Television, since 1965. (BTV). He was the author of 25 plays, seven novels, an autobiography named Amar Ami, and a travelogue titled Manhattan. His works mostly highlight the Bangladeshi middle-class lifestyle.

Ekhono Kritadas, Tomari, Amader Sontanera, Kokilara, Bibisab, Meraj Fakirer Maa, Mayik Master, Songsoptok, Pathar Somoy, Jibon Chhobi, and Baba are among his renowned plays. He was a co- founder and playwright-director of the theatre company Theatre. Mamun was also a film director. In 1972, he made his cinematic debut with Angikar. Sareng Bou (1978), Ekhoni Somoy, Dui Jibon, Sokhi Tumi Kar, and Bihanga are among his other significant films. He authored screenplays and music for films such as "Oshikkhito." Doriya Parer Doulati and Dui Beayar Kirti, his most recent films, were released in 2010 and 2015, respectively.

He received the Bangla Academy Award (1979), Agrani Sahitya Purashkar (1982), Ekushey Padak (2000), Jatiya Television Puraskar (1978), and National Film Award twice for best director and screenplay writer in appreciation of his work in drama. Mamun passed away on August 21, 2008, having been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, and complications with his kidneys and liver.
