Panchu Arunachalam is an Indian producer and writer. He has given his contribution to the Tamil film industry. He owned the production house P. A. Arts. Most of his pictures were released under the banner of his production house. He worked in more than 100 movies as a writer and had written songs for more than 200 movies. He was born in Tamil Nadu. His father the elder brother of Tamil poet and lyricist Kannadasan. He made his first directorial debut from the movie Manamagale Vaa in 1988. The movie starred Prabhu in the lead role. The movie was a huge hit at the box office. The movie was further remade in the Telugu language as Idem Pellam Baboi. In 1990, he directed Puthu Paatu. The movie was produced by Ilayaraja. It movie featured Rajeev, Suma, Vaidegi, and Ramarajan in the lead roles. In 1979, he produced Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai by SP. Muthuraman. Rajinikanth played the lead role in the movie along with Jayalakshmi, Sangeetha, Thengai Seenivasan, and Cho. The movie ran for around 175 days in the theaters. In 1982, he produced the movie Enkeyo Ketta Kural, which was directed by S.P. Muthuraman. His other films include Niram Maaratha Pookkal in 1979, Ullasa Paravaigal in 1980, Japanil Kalyanaraman in 1985, Athisaya Piravi in 1990, Mayabazar in 1995 his last movie as a writer was Chanakya in 2005 by A. Venkatesh. He has been the lyricist for movies like Annakili, Ullasa Paravaigal, and Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai. His son Subbu Panchu Arunachalam also works in the Tamil film industry.
