Surojit Chatterjee

Surojit Chatterjee is an Indian musician, music director, songwriter, and singer who works predominantly in the Bengali film industry. 

Born on May 7, 1966, in Rampurhat, he completed his schooling at Julien Day High School, Kolkata. He graduated from Allahabad University with distinction.

Surojit, with his co-partner Soumitra Ray, formed the Bengali music band ' Bhoomi Click to look into! >> Read More... ' in 1999. Its first performance was on July 24, 1999, at the Gyan Manch Auditorium,  Kolkata. Its music is widely known for its simple lyrics and rhythmic music. For the past 12 years, the band has released almost 24 albums. 

He also formed his first solo band 'Surojit O Bondhura' in 2012. He won the 2012 Radio Mirchi Best Vocalist (Male) Award for his first solo album 'Surojit O Bondhura.' His band also won the 2013 Radio Mirchi Best Album for the album 'Folkira.' His second solo album is titled 'Abhyontoreen.' 

Surojit started his career in the film industry with the 1994 movie 'Kaali Amaar Maa.' Some of his famous albums from the band Bhoomi are 'Jatra Shuru' (2000), 'Dekhtey Dekhtey' (2004), 'Bojhai Kora Ganer Gari' (2005), 'Gaan Bahaan' (2007), 'Gaan Doriyae' (2010), and 'Desh Judey' (2011). 

Surojit married lyricist Kamalinee Chatterjee. She penned lyrics for several albums of Surojit O Bondhara, such as 'Kon Roopnagare Konnya Tomar Bari' and 'Abhyaonotoreen.' She also won the Upcoming Lyricist of the Year award in 2012 for the song 'Alo' from the movie 'Muktodhara.' Surojit and Kamalinee have a daughter named Annweshaa Chatterjee.
