Not only this, he is also known for voicing his thoughts for the right cause and putting his opinions forward at all times. The award for the Best Movie this year was given to Visaranai. The movie received the awards because of its great storyline thay exposes the true face of Democracy. It highlights the cruel violation of human rights. Visaranai has beautifully portrayed the struggles faced by the 'C class' like fake encounters, murders within the jail cells and so on! The movie depicts the life of people who are not given much recognition in the society.

The Best Director was bagged by the talented director Vetrimaaran. He received the award for doing a wonderful job directing the movie Visaranai. In this movie, the depiction of innocent people caught up with no means of escape, makes its story all the more unique, and engaging. It was brought on screen by Vetrimaaran, but it’s based on a famous novel 'Lock Up.’ The director has left the audience in awe with his actual efforts. One of the most important awards, the best actor award was scored by legendary actor Rajinikanth for his movie Kabali. Rajnikanth did a beautiful job of portraying a hero who’s unabashedly in love with a girl. The love between the hero and the heroine is put to test as they have to wait 25 years to meet each other finally. The movie deals with the complexity of love.

In this story, the hero has lost his youth to time, but even then the love remains pure and intense like before. Rajnikanth is known for his incredible versatility as an actor. Whether playing the role of a young and highly enthusiastic chap or an older man waiting to see his love, Rajini has also mesmerized the audience with his performance. This year, the award for Best Actress was given to actress Ritika Singh for her movie ‘The Irudhi Suttru.’ One interesting fact about her is that she was earlier a martial artist, and now she’s made her debut as an actress with Irudhi Suttru in Tamil language and Saala Khadoos in Hindi. She has delivered an incredible performance in the movie. Heroes are fantastic, but playing the part of a villain comes with its challenges. The Best Villain award for this year was bagged by actor Vela Ramamoorth for his movie The Kidari. In the movie, he does a wonderful job in maintaining his dual nature of portraying a character with a brave heart, but who is actually a coward from within. This year, the award for Best Anti-Heroine was scored by Viji, who played the typical Indian Village kind of an antagonist’s role.

Viji did a wonderful job as an Antagonist, making us hate the character but love the complexities in the movie Vetrivel. She added beautiful layers to her character and hence deserved the award very well. Apart from giving recognition to various actors and actresses, the ceremony also showed appreciation to Samuthirakani, who became the best character artist. In the movie in which he acted, he played a character who undergoes humongous mental depression as he tries to save the innocent people from the Court's order. Samuthirakani has very well acted his part.
