Kerala State Film Awards 1990 is an annual awards show segment that is available on Youtube. Kerala State Film Awards is an award show that honors the cinematic excellence of movies made in the Malayalam language. The award event was started to be held from the year 1969. From 1969 to 1997, the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Kerala, directly managed the awards. From the year 1997, the awards were started to be presented by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. For the selection of winners, an independent jury is formed by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and the Department of Cultural Affairs to analyze the nominees in each category of awards. The awards are declared by the Minister for Cultural Affairs and presented by the Chief Minister of Kerala.
The awards show is held to celebrate and honor the rich diversity of Malayalam movies. It appreciates the talent of not only artists but also the people who work behind the cameras. Some of the highlights of the show included the award for Best Actor, which was bagged by Thilakan for the movie Perumthachan. The award for Best Actress was given to Urvashi presented for her outstanding work in the movie Thalayanamanthram. The award for Best Film went to Vasthuhara. Apart from these mentioned awards, there were many other noticeable highlights. The star-studded event was filled with the best from the Malayalam cinema. It was a formal event, unlike other award shows, which are filled with spectacular dance and singing performances.
