Malayalam Awards Kerala State Film Award 2017

The 47th Kerala State Film Award took place in Thiruvananthapuram, on 7 March 2017. The award function was organized by Kerala State Chalchitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Kerala. The various awards were distributed for the excellence in cinematic achievements of the Malayalam industry. The award function was started by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt of India, in 1969. The achievements were rewarded by the honorable  minister A.K  Balan.

The jury for the results was led by the famous Odisha director A.K Bir. Kammatti Paadam is a 2016 Thriller/Action movie. In the movie, Krishna, working in Mumbai, returns to his childhood friend when he calls for help. What happens next is a series of twists and turns as they are haunted by their criminal past. Because of such a fantastic storyline, Kammatti Paadam won most of the awards in the Kerala Film State Award 2017. This time, a female scored the award for the best director, which was an incredibly proud moment. Manhole is a 2016 Malayalam film that showcases the inner struggles and cruelties faced by a manual scavenger's daughter. The movie aims to put forward the reality of the marginalized sections of society, and with this social message, it was much loved among the masses.
