The story begins with Ali Baba, who lives with five orphan children named Guleraj, Imad, Poya, Nafi, and Alifi in a small street in Kabul. Ali Baba, being poor, is a kind-hearted person who is unaware of his destiny and talent. He often reminisces about his childhood flashback, which involves his father, Mustafa, a magician who traps all 40 thieves in a curse, stating that they will remain trapped in a stone tomb until the moon remains safe in the sky.
He also thwarts his leader, Iblis, from fulfilling his evil intentions but is eventually killed by Iblis. In his last moments, Mustafa predicts that Ali will become a greater magician and protect the citizens of Kabul, writing the "Dastan-e-Kabul" (Tale of Kabul).
