Sunita Shirole has been a part of the film and television for many years, having gained a position amongst the most experienced actors, big and small screen alike.She is known for her role as Ammaji, the conventional and orthodox grandmother-in-law in a recent daily soap, “Mrs. KaushikkiPaanchBahuein” aired on a prominent television network, Zee TV.The show was on air for three years. She also made an entry in another popular daily soap, “TereSheher Mein”, acting as the strict grandmother to Rama, one of the male leads in the show. “TereSheher Mein” lasted for a short duration of nine months, going off-air on November 14, 2015, having been aired on Star Plus. Sunita Shirole is also known for her roles on the silver screen too. Her big screen works have made her feel happy because she has shared space with the remarkable people of the Bollywood.
She worked in a 1998 movie, “Ye Na Thi Humari Qismat,” under the direction of Gulab Hussain. She has also been seen in “Kisna: The Warrior Poet,” directed by Shubhash Ghai and set in the last decade of Colonial Rule in India. Sunitaji played Kisna’s (Vivek Oberoi) grandmother in the film. In 2008, she played the role of Yusuf’s mother in the superhit movie, “Mumbai MeriJaan,” which was based on the aftermath of the chain bombing of Mumbai local trains in the year 2006. The movie starred Rishi and NeetuKapoor, featuring the story of a middle class family trying to purchase a car. In the same year, she worked in Aditya Narayan’s acting debut, “Shaapit: The Cursed”. Her recent works on the big screen include a role in the Akshay Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer hit movie, “Holidy: A Soldier is Never Off Duty” in the year 2014. She has also worked in a Spanish drama film in the November of 2014, “Rastres de Sàndal,” meaning “Traces of Sandalwood,” enacting the role of Sister Kamala. The movie narrates the tale of pain, love and hope, traversing two countries, Spain and India, in the most prominent cities of both, Barcelona and Mumbai respectively.
