Doordarshan played this amazing and kid-friendly show, Giant Robo which was the dubbed version of the Japanese serial. Giant Robo was every child’s fantasy about a war of the worlds, bullets, and bombs which randomly dropped all over the place. Every Indian kid wanted to become Johnny and flip their watches to call their robots and fight.
Every week, a new episode aired a new threat to humanity, but Giant Robots were there to save the day. There is a lot of action one can get in the tv series. The most common sentence we could hear the boys say was “Robots, destroy them!” The serial shows morals and violence in a compatible way.
