Bengali Tv Serial Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni

Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni is a Bengali period drama airing on Zee Bangla at 6:30pm. The show premiered on 24^th July, 2017 and is still airing. It covers the life of the strongwilled leader and independent woman, Rani Rashmoni of Bengal. Rashmoni is seen to be married off at a very young age to Babu Rajachandra Das of Janbazar, Kolkata. Babu Rajachandra was a very wealthy and popular zamindari aristrocrat. After her husband’s early death, Rashomani took charge of her household and the estate.

Her estate prospered under her rule. Rani Rashmoni faced many obstacles while taking charge after her husband’s untimely demise as in the 19^th century women were not allowed to inherit or take leadership in Bengal. Despite the dire circumstances, the Rani became one of the most popular and strong women leaders of India.

The show covers many obstacles faced by the Rani, including her rebellion against the British. She compelled the British to abolish taxes for fishing in the river by blockading their shipping trade on the Ganges. Her aura and power made the British back off and give in to her demands. As the show progresses, the viewers get to see the uncountable acts of her bravery.

Since her childhood, the Rani is shown to be very spiritual and pious. She was a devotee of Goddess Kali and was even given many divine visions by the Goddess, which led to her constructing the very famous Dakhineshwar Kali Temple on the banks of the river Ganga. She gave the position of the head priest to Swami Ramkrishna Paramhansa. Rani Rashmoni’s life was that of service and love for her subjects, especially women.
