"Durga" is a Bengali serial that aired on 8th September 2008 on Star Jalsha and tells the story of the life of a young woman named Durga. Durga is a simple woman named after the powerful Hindu goddess Devi Durga and is hence a huge devotee. She has immense spiritual faith in the goddess and whenever she faces any kind of problem, she prays to the goddess who in turn helps her to overcome every obstacle in her life. She is brought up in a poor family living in a village. Eventually, she gets married to a mentally challenged person named Rupam who belongs to a very rich, urban family. She finds out that Rupam had been kept captive by an evil woman named Damini who is also responsible for his mental condition. Durga makes it her personal mission to save Rupam and cure him of his state. In order to do so, she faces many challenges thrown her way which she overcomes all with the help of Devi Durga and defeats the foul plans of Rupam's evil relatives.
