The first category was Best actor male. The award was won by Vijay Yesudas for the movie Nanban. Nanban is the remake of the Hindi film, 3 Idiots. The lead role of the film was justified by Vijay and he deserved the award. The next category was the Best Actor, female. The award was bagged by ever gorgeous and the cutest actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu for her work in the film Neethane En Ponvasantham. “I worked very hard for the film. It was difficult to play three age groups in this film. Thank you Vikatan for this appreciation” Said Samantha on receiving the award. The best story award was won by Balaji Sakthivel for Vazhakku En 18/9.

It is a thriller film whose plot revolves around a girl who gets into a trouble by an MMS recorded by her boyfriend. The Best Character Actor was given to to Ramu for the film Neer Paravai. The Best Character Actress went to Parvathy for her work in Vazhakku En 18/9. Santhanam who is a popular comedian in the Tamil film industry won The Best Comedy Actor award for the film OruKal Oru Kannadi. For the same film, Madhumitha won the Best Comedy Actress award. Best Villain Actor was won by Muthuraman for his work in the film, Vazhakku En 18/9.

Balaji Tharaneetharan won The Best Debutant Director award for his film, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. It is the story of a young man, Prem who is about to get married, meets with an accident and forgets his past. The story line summarizes how Prem manages to get married despite of this condition. The Best Debutant Actor award was bagged by Dinesh for Atta Kathy. The Best Debutant Actress award was won by Lakshmi Menon for Sundarapandian. Many more categories were nominated and winners were awarded and appreciated for their work.
