MTV Fanaah is an Indian thriller series that is produced by BBC Worldwide India. It revolves around the supernaturals, like vampires and werewolves. A complicated love story between the characters is the primary motivation for the storyline.
The story is set in a different realm with hopes of achieving unbelievable power, and searching for impossible love. It is inspired by the infamous American TV series called “The Vampire Diaries.” The show starts with a gruesome fight scene between Vivaan (played by Karan Kundra) and Vidyut (played by Rithvik Dhanjani). A girl named Avni (played by Chetna Pande) makes serious attempts to stop them. This hugely hints at a love triangle between the three people. The story involves a constant time lapse, and hence, the plot constantly shifts from the present to the past. This happens while a woman named Preet (played by Anita Hassanandani Reddy) narrates the story of a man. This man is in love with a girl named Ira (played by Ratan Rajput), only he doesn’t know that Ira is a vampire. Vivaan (played by Karan Kundra) became a vampire by using the powers of the moonstone.
The moonstone is the key for a vampire, werewolf, or a witch to become immortal. Vivaan is the sole vampire left in the town. He lost his lover twenty years ago and searches for a new lover in vain. Living in failure, he gives up hope and aims to become a mortal human again, just to die.
To fulfill his dreams, he joins a medical hospital to come up with a solution that can turn him back into a human. During the process, he keeps getting sensations of the pasts that remind and warn him about something. The show is oriented towards the youth.
It features many fresh faces with talents that are proven to connect to Gen Y. Every character is portrayed to have a dark side, which stands aside from other shows, where heroes and villains are always divided.
