Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan is a very famous soap opera focussed on family life, personal relations with emotions and moral conflicts. The story is about a young women named Kumkum, daughter-in-law of the Wadhwa family. The serial telecasted in Starplus from 2002 till 2009 leaving behind a record of one of the longest run opera of 1449 episodes in a span of seven years. The melodrama was so nicely carved that the viewers were emotionally involved and became as a family leaving excellent TRP ratings continuously for few years.
Kumkum was penned by many writers carving the opera with various shades of emotions and melodrama. The story is about Kumkum who get married to Jatin of Wadhwa family and they live very happily. When Kumkum is expecting a child, unfortunately Jatin dies of brain tumour. All the dreams of Kumkum shatters and life becomes very miserable. Now, the Wadhwa family decides to get their daughter-in-law re-married. The remaining story lies in how they have overcome the barriers in order to save Kumkum to give a better life. Day to day activities of the characters and personal relationships were nicely shown in the serial. The serial was created by BAG Films, and the icing of the cake is the theme song sung by
Sonu Nigam and
Pamela Jain. Juhi Parmar, who played the role of Kumkum, won Indian Telly Jury Award for Best Actress in a lead role in 2005.
