Plot
Neelesh, a socially-backward class boy, studies at the National University of Law. Neelesh’s mother wishes her son to become a lawyer after he was falsely accused of trespassing, and she was thrashed for defending him. Except for him, none in his class belongs to a weaker section. He was ill-treated at his university for not knowing English. Neelesh was not respected and was called the Free Seat guy. A senior, Shekhar, who has been protesting for socially-backward students, as they didn’t receive their fellowship, due to their quota entry. Sekhar commits suicide in his hostel room, which screws up a lot of things. What happens next? What is Neelesh’s part in this?
Star Performance
Siddhant excels in his character, Neelesh. He is good at emotional scenes. Tripti is quite decent in her role as Vidhi. Her role is designed well, and she fits perfectly. Saurabh Sachdeva is impressive with his performance.
Analysis
The remake stands true to its original. The characters are penned well with strong detailing. Vidhi’s headstrong role is perfect, making Tripti’s performance elevate well. Although her family tries to wash her brain, she stands unique. Shankar, played by Saurabh, is penned with enough depth. The casteism’s existence is painfully told. How people still use caste to degrade a person is shown well. The film is technically sound with good visuals and music. The editing is pretty decent.
